Juan & Rosie’s Wedding

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Juan and Rosie are such a wonderful couple. You can tell how much they love each other by the little glances they steal when no one else is looking (or so it seems).  : ) I was honored to celebrate their wedding with them & help document the beautiful, personal event.

See? Love. : )

I love it when couples don’t smear the cake all over each other… It may not be as funny for the audience, but it’s so much sweeter & so I enjoy it more.

Rosie’s grandfather delighted them with a wonderful mariachi band at the reception while the guests ate & visited before all the dancing began. ; )

I just love this image. You can see how very happy she is.

Now for a few portraits. : )  Rosie had the prettiest dress.  And Juan, of course, was in his blues for the ceremony & most of the reception.

And finally, my favorite close-up of the couple.  Awwww… : D

Juan & Rosie, thanks for letting me (and my husband, aka, second-shooter) celebrate with you & document your love.

Invitation Design: Weddings

Friday, March 12th, 2010

I recently did some design work for a couple that I know through my mother-in-law.  : )  They’re getting married soon & wanted invitations with flowers, pink, and butterflies.  So I made up a few options & you can see my favorite 3 here.  When they’re finished, they’ll have a black border and vellum on top with a pink bow.  (Vellum is that translucent smooth paper that you can read the text through).  I think they’ll look very, very pretty.     : )

I went ahead and blurred out the details of their wedding, so no one can crash it, haha. Just imagine the text instead of blurs. ; )

And this is the one that they decided to choose.  It has a more modern/abstract feel.  Plus more variance in the placement and use of the colors black & pink.  And it’s the only one with grey, did you notice? : )

The matching RSVP postcard to be mailed back to the couple (with their address printed on the back).

Anyway, I thought it might be interesting to share some design work that I’ve done that doesn’t include photography.  I’m okay with that. In fact, I think all 3 of these are pretty (which is good since I designed them, hehe). So if you’re looking for design work, but not photography, don’t feel shy to go ahead and contact me.  I’ll enjoy the challenge!  : )

Tuesday: Entwine II

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Entwine #2.  I hope you enjoy how I’ve interpreted it this week. I mean, what could be more figurative than a set of wedding bands? : )

Aren’t those bands lovely? (And, no, they’re not mine & Chris’ — ours are silver because I love silver more).  : )  These are a set that my mom inherited from a family friend that she let me borrow to take some images with.

I love macro images like this and it’s one of my favorite things to capture at weddings: the details that make the day unique.  I think it’s those little things that the couple takes time to plan, but can still miss in the busyness of their day.

Well, enough philosophizing from me, Happy Tuesday to All. ; )

Marla's Bridals

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Gallery is up!  Details at the bottom of the post!

My first Bridals ever & boy were they fun! : ) A pretty dress, a pretty bride & a bird cage veil & feathers, really, what else could I ask for?

Of course, the day was ridiculously hot since it’s summer & we shot in the afternoon, but Marla was a trooper, even when I made her sit in the middle of a field with no shade! But we got some great images, so hopefully it’ll all balance out in her memory.

Also, I’m so very pleased to announce that Tim & Marla’s gallery is up for print viewing & ordering! Her bridals, a few shots from the rehearsal & the entire wedding & reception are online.

To check it out, go to (edited)www.greenshoesphoto.com & click on the Client Gallery photo (it’s Tim & Marla, so you shouldn’t miss it!), then follow the instructions (i.e. type in the groom’s last name) & there’s all their pictures! Do drop me an email/facebook message if you have any trouble, since we should have worked out all the kinks, but this will be its first run with a group of people!

Loveland Wedding

Monday, July 13th, 2009

I’ve finished the Loveland Wedding editing & the gallery of all of their images will go live within the next week (at least as I understand it) & I’ll write up a post when it goes live, so you’ll know! : )

Now, since I’ve already made you wait for a while, I’ll stop with the talk & give you some images. There are quite a few so I hope you’re ready!

I love make-up shots.  The bride always looks so pretty & relaxed.

Marla (and I) made Tim “practice” lifting her veil… just in case, you know.

Family shots.  The ring-bearer didn’t want to sit still & tired himself out by the time of the wedding, but with his family’s help I got a few shots. : )

The groom’s family plus the sweet little flower girl.

I love detail shots & the food all looked so yummy.

First Dance!

Details, details, details.  : )

The sending off at the end of the night.

Shooting their wedding was so much fun & I’m glad they asked me to do it!

Marla's Bridals: Preview

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Since I love you all & many of you are still waiting for Tim & Marla’s wedding, I’m giving you a little preview of her Bridal Session. Not exactly the wedding, I know, but hopefully I’ll have a full fledged blog (actually, 2 blogs, 1 for bridals & 1 for wedding) post soon. As in next week. I see the light at the end of the image tunnel! Which means all of you will be seeing images soon too! I know you’re excited.

Now, for that gorgeous photo!

I love black & white. : )

I absolutely love her birdcage veil! And the hairpiece… I think feathers are gorgeous! Of course, I also love a more traditional veil, too: they’re so sheer & lacy… maybe I should just face the fact that I love veils… and hats… and feathers, yeah, I had to throw that in again. So definitely don’t feel shy bringing such wonderful items to wear so I can photograph them & enjoy how beautiful they (and you) are!

Beside the wedding posts, I also have a special post planned for seniors soon. So if you’re in Abilene or Lubbock & are going to be, or know someone who will be, a Senior, keep checking back because I’m posting special just for you!

Brief Interlude

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Well, as  you know, I shot my first wedding solo last weekend.  It was fantastic!  : )  But scrolling through & editing over 2000 pictures takes a long time… that’s right, you heard me, over 2000 pictures… I’ve gotten it down to around 500 though since I deleted redundant photos, closed eyes & blurs (plus I take at least 5 for each group photo so I have better chances of getting a good one – that means during group photo time, for every 5 I take, only 1 will be a keeper).  And low-light is best friends with motion blur, so they like to show up in images together.

However, I didn’t want to leave my poor little blog empty until I get the editing done, so I wanted to at least put up a little something.  And besides that, I have updates as far as my blog & site are concerned.

First, go check out my regular site(edited)www.greenshoesphoto.com.  My wonderful husband has been helping me update some of it & if you’re interested in viewing and ordering photos from the Loveland wedding, you can enter “Client Galleries” on the first page & follow the instructions to receive an email to let you know when I get some pictures posted.  Of course, if you’re just interested in the blog & not in ordering photos, keep up with this & I’ll be blogging their gorgeous images before *too* long!

Now, for a little image love:

I took that photo for my Photo I Darkroom class for Tech almost 2 years ago.  It’s an image of my uncle’s guitar from another cousin’s wedding. : )  I developed the film & printed it in the darkroom all by myself & then scanned it onto the computer so I can have the digital file forever so I couldn’t loose it!  Hurrah for digital (I loathe developing my own film!).  Anyway, you may also have seen it on my site, but I wanted to briefly add that if you’re interested in purchasing any prints of images, and they don’t have to be from a session of yours with me, do let me know.  I’d love to see this image hanging over someone’s fireplace, or in someone’s studio. Maybe I’ll do it myself when I have a fireplace or a studio!
