Tuesday Self-Portraits: Urban Cowgirl

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Installment 2 of the Self-Portraits.  Cowboy-boots.  My dad’s old camera.  A frame my husband’s grandmother gave us.  My Bible.  His Bible.  Our back-steps.  And, of course, in the corner, my favorite cardigan (which I wore until I took the images since it was a little cold out).  : )  I’m pretty pleased with the image.  I hope everyone enjoys.

Self-Portrait. Abilene TX. Urban Cowgirl.

If you keep up with me on flickr or facebook, you’ll see a few more of these.  They’re a little similar (more so than images would be for a portrait session) since it’s hard to move the camera around too much when I’m on the other side of it.  : )  But I’m learning this self-portrait thing.  It’s fun.

On another note, I’m sharing a little news. : )  I’ll be updating packages & pricing in January of 2010.  Don’t be too scared, but if you know you really like one of the packages I offer now, book before I change it on you. ; )

I think that’s about all the news I have for this Tuesday.  My husband’s birthday is later this week & I still need to wrap his presents, but they are hidden here in the house. : )  And for the rest of today I have an album to design (which is just peachy with me, I love design!)…

I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday.  I’m planning to. : )

Daniel: Hawley Senior Rep

Friday, October 30th, 2009

I’ve lived near Abilene for the majority of my life, but I had never been out to the small town of Hawley.  It had one main street and most of the others I found turned into dirt roads within a few blocks, just like streets in small towns should.  : )  I do joke about small towns sometimes, since I grew up in Merkel, but there’s also something very sweet about them which becomes especially clear when you visit a new one for the first time.

Enough of that, now onto the real fun.  Daniel was my first Senior guy since moving here and I had a lot of fun.  And got some handsome photos!

Look at that blue sky!  And the tall grass… talk about the perfect country/small town setting!

Daniel plays baseball & football.  And since that’s about all I know about sports, that’s about all I can tell you.  : )

There is the coolest set of “junk” behind their Ag building.  Seriously.  I was so excited when I found it.  I mean, I honestly have no real idea what the rusty “wheel” above is for, but doesn’t it make for a fantastic photo?

Kat: Winter’s Senior Rep

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Finally, right?  I’ve been looking forward to this beautiful post for a few weeks now.

Kat is my cousin & I remember taking care of her during the summer sometimes when we were both much younger. : )  She’s so much fun to spend time with & doesn’t she look just beautiful in that dress? ; )

Enjoy!

She is a beautiful flutist.  Right here, she’s playing Amazing Grace for me. : )

I’d like to claim fore-thought & awesomeness for the image above, but there was a lot of luck involved.  I absolutely love it though.  Yay for moments of surprise!

Rocking the fedora… love the red & black plaid.

So gorgeous!  Seriously.  : )  I absolutely love all the photos we ended up with… it was hard for me to even begin narrowing them down… but I’m okay with that. : )

Emma: Wylie Senior Rep

Friday, October 16th, 2009

It has been a week!  Both good & bad… but still one of “those” weeks for me.  However, it makes me much happier to be able to share these images with you!  Emma is a Senior at Wylie this year & is very involved in choir.  Plus she’s just wonderful.  : )  I had a lot of fun photographing her downtown.

I considered breaking this into 2 posts, but I’ve still got Kat’s session & another lovely session with a local model to post, so this one will just be a little extra long because I can’t even start to pick my favorites!  I hope you enjoy all of the colorful goodness.

I love all of her freckles!  Seriously, I hope when my husband & I eventually have kids, they have freckles!

Doesn’t she look fiercely beautiful?

These chairs & table were outside of Relics, who were nice enough to share.  They have an absolutely fabulous website, so go give it a click.  And then go visit them downtown & wander through their store!  : )

3 Amigas

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

My mom and 2 of her friends have dubbed themselves the “3 Amigas” (with just a little help from my husband).  All three are school teachers & so they did a mini-shoot together the week before school “officially” started (aka the week when they are doing workshops & work days).

They met when I was in Kindergarten (so long ago!).  My Kindergarten teacher is the one on the left in the image below, my mom is on the right, and in the middle is the mother of one of my kindergarten friends (who went to another school about 3 years later).  Anyway, they’ve stayed in contact (and a little bit out of contact) over the years.  So here they are, the 3 Amigas!

As you can see, they had a great time… and I got some wonderful laughs for myself too… oh, yeah, and some cute pictures!  : )

Abby & Dewayne

Monday, August 24th, 2009

I know you’ve been anticipating this post since the preview about a week ago.  : )  (I at least know Abby has!)

And now here they are.  See, didn’t I tell you they were an adorable couple? (Feel free to agree in the comments!)

I had so much fun with this photo shoot.  I was my first in Abilene & it gave me a chance to explore the town a bit.  I grew up in Merkel (about 15 minutes outside of Abilene) and so Abilene was the place to go to the mall, catch a movie, and get good food (except, of course, the little local & yummy places in Merkel – Mesquite Bean, anyone?).  However, I never truly looked at Abilene through the lens of my camera & it was fantastic!  I’ve already found a few other places that I want to do some shots as well, so if you’re interested in a session, but location uncertain, have no fear!  I’ve been gathering ideas for a few weeks now & am ready to explore them!

Now, for all the wonderful (and yummy – check the Chocolate sign!) photos:

Dewayne is a Mac guy.  I concur totally!  I mean after all, their logo is both healthy & yummy!

This was our last shot of the day & totally Dewayne’s idea & I love it.  I know it’s natural to want to look at the camera for shots (I do it too!) but sometimes a lack of eye-contact works!

Marla's Bridals

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Gallery is up!  Details at the bottom of the post!

My first Bridals ever & boy were they fun! : ) A pretty dress, a pretty bride & a bird cage veil & feathers, really, what else could I ask for?

Of course, the day was ridiculously hot since it’s summer & we shot in the afternoon, but Marla was a trooper, even when I made her sit in the middle of a field with no shade! But we got some great images, so hopefully it’ll all balance out in her memory.

Also, I’m so very pleased to announce that Tim & Marla’s gallery is up for print viewing & ordering! Her bridals, a few shots from the rehearsal & the entire wedding & reception are online.

To check it out, go to (edited)www.greenshoesphoto.com & click on the Client Gallery photo (it’s Tim & Marla, so you shouldn’t miss it!), then follow the instructions (i.e. type in the groom’s last name) & there’s all their pictures! Do drop me an email/facebook message if you have any trouble, since we should have worked out all the kinks, but this will be its first run with a group of people!

Loveland Wedding

Monday, July 13th, 2009

I’ve finished the Loveland Wedding editing & the gallery of all of their images will go live within the next week (at least as I understand it) & I’ll write up a post when it goes live, so you’ll know! : )

Now, since I’ve already made you wait for a while, I’ll stop with the talk & give you some images. There are quite a few so I hope you’re ready!

I love make-up shots.  The bride always looks so pretty & relaxed.

Marla (and I) made Tim “practice” lifting her veil… just in case, you know.

Family shots.  The ring-bearer didn’t want to sit still & tired himself out by the time of the wedding, but with his family’s help I got a few shots. : )

The groom’s family plus the sweet little flower girl.

I love detail shots & the food all looked so yummy.

First Dance!

Details, details, details.  : )

The sending off at the end of the night.

Shooting their wedding was so much fun & I’m glad they asked me to do it!

Kristin v.1

Friday, June 12th, 2009

I have so many beautiful photos of the wonderful Kristin that I just can’t make them into only 1 post, so she’ll have 2. : ) Plus she’s waited for months on me to get these processed (but she’s a wonderful friend & hasn’t complained even once!)

So, with no further ado, here they are!

I have been experimenting with textures (all the extra grunge in the first two).  Tell me if you like it!   I do, but I don’t want to over-do it, either, so let me know what you think!

Zeke

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

As promised, here are my favorites from Zeke’s session. Doesn’t he look great in Black & White? : )

Hopefully later this week, I’ll have some posts up from my exhibit for those of you that couldn’t make it. ; )
