Exhibit

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

I will have an official exhibit up in the TTU School of Art. It’s on Flint & 18th (more or less) and if you enter through the South Side door, you’ll be in the middle of my work. (The School of Art is the 1 story building, not the super tall one on that intersection).

I’d love for all of my seniors & couples to go & see because about 95% of you from this year are in it! : )

It’ll be up from April 27th – May 9th. If you’re coming to my graduation (on May 9th) then we’ll all be going over there afterward (we all means my family & anyone else interested). But you don’t have to wait until the last day. Swing by & bring all your friends & tell them how awesome I am! : ) Or you can just take them & they can actually decide for themselves what they think (I’d go that route personally, but someone has to do my self-promotion).

I think I’m going to leave a little sample on here, mostly because posts are best with eye candy. However, maybe it’ll convince someone to stop by.

P.S. to everyone whose image is in the exhibit – if you like your image & are interested in buying it, do contact me about it. I promise to give a reasonable price & you can then have a unique image of yourself that was famous (haha) enough to be in an exhibit. — Oh, and the frame is included, you’ll be getting exactly what’s on the wall at the exhibit. : )

Edit: Here are the Exhibit times:

Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm

Saturday 10:00am – 5:00pm :: Sunday 12:00pm – 4:00pm

Parking:

BTW everyone – if you’re not going on the weekend, the best idea for parking is to go to the top level of the parking garage (near the light on 18th & flint) and pay the meter (50 cents to a dollar) to park. I don’t want anyone to get a ticket & Tech can be grumpy about their parking.

There is also parking right in front of the building, & the … Read Moreprice to park is the same but there aren’t usually open spots.

Finally, there maybe a free place to park but you’ll have to go to the Parking Booths (they’re in the middle of the street – one on 18th and Boston & one furher up Flint) and ask them because I can’t park anywhere for free since I’m a student.

Almost Alice & A Bird on A Bike: Maggie Taylor

Friday, April 10th, 2009

Who can resist an artist who is willing to put a bird on a bike? Her beautiful images are a cross, at least to me, between painting and photography. All of her finished products have been worked through Photoshop, sometimes getting edits over months at a time. The images are surreal, vivid, seamless, beautiful & best of all, tell stories. Whether it’s an illustration of Alice in Wonderland or their own little single framed sized curiousities, Taylor’s pieces demand a second, deeper look.

So now that I’ve bragged on how awesome she is, here’s a few samples & then links for your viewing pleasure.

Rachel's Senior Session

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

I had a lot of fun photographing Rachel for her Senior Photos. She & her mother suggested so many ideas & were so flexible! Her two sisters came too & I hope they weren’t too bored watching us. : ) I’m so glad they booked her session with me. I had a great time!

These were taken just outside of Lubbock where there are two old trains sitting near the highway. There’s a huge incline to get near the trains, but luckily my poor car survived! I’m so glad Rachel & her mother were in a truck! : )

This is the wall of a business that is painted like animal print. Rachel noticed it on the way to the trains & asked if we could stop there on the way back into Lubbock. Of course, I agreed, and I’m glad I did. Though I’m not always excited about animal print, I’m so glad Rachel suggested it because the print photos are beautiful!

Piano

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

I took this image in late February & it’s been sitting on my computer, waiting for me to give it some love. Now I have. I took several others but this is by far my favorite. : ) I’ve done minimum touch-up work. If I remember correctly, there’s not even any color correction. That’s what I call a successful photo!

I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!

P.S. There’s some fun stuff coming soon! I took some Senior Photos last Sunday & they are lovely. Expect a post before too long… plus there’ll be another “for fun” image up soon!
